ABOUT PIJAB

Peace Is Just A Break is a Swiss Metal band based in Lausanne. Mixing melodic death metal, metalcore and modern synths, PIJAB aims to offer its own and maybe more modern approach on the genre usually named melodeath.

Initially formed in 2011, the band went through several lineup changes before the release of the first single Echoes in 2015, followed two years later by the debut album Little Boy released on October 13th, 2017. Well received by the critics, the band went on to defend the release on a small tour, playing in Switzerland, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Czech Republic.

Nevertheless, this tour would also mark the end of the collaboration with lead singer Matt. With the COVID pandemic hitting the world straight in the face, PIJAB took the time to work on new material and most importantly, to find a new singer for the band. The arrival of Oscar in 2021 was a new fresh air for the remaining members.

After releasing two singles with the new singer. PIJAB will release the new EP Second Sun on November 11, 2022.

The new release Second Sun marks a change in the musical identity of the band. With the arrival of Oscar on vocals, the clean singing parts are more present, and the addition of some electronic elements is also an evolution in PIJAB’s sound. At the time of the composing of the EP, the will was to propose a reduced number of tracks, better worked and better achieved, by bringing a very particular care to the transitions and changes of dynamics. The themes approached in this opus are in the continuity of what had been done on the first album Little Boy; texts evoking the horrors of the war, with very marked references to the Second WW2 (this time more particularly to the bombardment of Hiroshima) but also more introspective texts, dealing with themes such as depression, cancer, or social malaise.
